Technics SL-1300G New Generation Grand Class Direct Drive Turntable

The new 2025 Technics SL-1300G is a high-end, belt-driven, audiophile-focused turntable, praised for exceptional, near-silent, and detailed  performance. It offers a sophisticated, modern design with a refined S-shaped tonearm, though some users find the lift/lower mechanism feels less premium. Key features include a robust 13kg build and a very low noise floor.

  • Coreless Direct Drive Motor: It features a newly developed twin-rotor coreless direct-drive motor that entirely eliminates "cogging" (uneven rotation) and minimizes vibrations, a common issue in older direct-drive designs.
  • Advanced Motor Control: The ΔΣ-Drive (Delta Sigma Drive) system uses advanced digital processing to suppress motor vibrations and ensure exceptionally smooth and accurate rotation, resulting in a very low wow and flutter rating.

  • Superior Anti-Vibration Design:
    • Three-layer Platter: The platter is a heavy, three-layered construction of brass and aluminum die-cast with deadening rubber on the rear surface to eliminate resonance and improve stability. Each platter is individually factory-balanced.
    • High-Rigidity Chassis: The body uses a two-layer construction of Bulk Molding Compound (BMC) and die-cast aluminum, with reinforcing ribs to further improve rigidity and damp vibrations.
    • High-Damping Insulators: Special silicon-rubber insulators in the feet provide excellent isolation from external vibrations.
  • High-Performance Tonearm: The S-shaped tonearm has high initial-motion sensitivity and features a gimbal suspension with high-precision bearings, assembled manually by skilled Japanese artisans for accurate groove tracing.
  • Silent Power Supply: It employs a multi-stage switching power supply with active noise-canceling technology to eliminate power supply noise and hum, contributing to a "black background" or silent noise floor during playback
