The Pro-Ject Harley-Davidson Turntable is a special-edition analog audio player born from a collaboration between Harley-Davidson and Pro-Ject Audio Systems. It features a Bar & Shield-inspired resonance-damped chassis, a heavy glass platter, and a hand-polished S-shaped aluminum tonearm

Temperamentally, hifi turntable people tend to be unlike people involved in the manufacture of ring-joint gaskets—activities that, without a doubt, have their own scales of excellence. but there are similarities;

Flywheel and Crankshaft Balancing: Heavy, precision-machined flywheels store rotational energy to produce deep low-end torque while dampening harsh secondary vibrations.

Hand-Finished Tolerances: Critical rotating assemblies rely on meticulous manual shimming and final verification by veteran engine builders rather than pure automation

But those who labor at hi-fi believe in the possibility of creating a musical experience that can change your life—or at least beautify it in matterful ways—and are willing to invest nontrivial amounts of time and money on this conviction. I confess I find that pretty amazing.

Most of us, most of the time, live in the world of good enough. On a Saturday, we might drive our Ford Fiesta to pick up a polo shirt at Banana Republic.

But this turntable concerns those among us for whom the world of good enough is not, at least when it comes to hi-fi. A nice receiver and a pair of minimonitors were never going to do it for these people.

Musical sound is tactile and material, both physical and emotional, and yes, difficult to talk about, since it is a preverbal, primal experience.

The Project is beautiful in a jewel-like, Swiss way. The components seem as precisely machined as the Knucklehead engine's rocker assembly. 

Listening at a volume that's safe for the elderly and small animals, shows so much delicacy, balance, and inner detail that you'll want to set up a lawn chair and a sleeping bag and call it a day.

But then if you would be brave enought to nearly get startled out of your seat you queue up a six pack of some of The Greatest Heavy Metal Songs of All time
