The most famous turntable in the world - the Technics SL-1200, is used by more professional DJ's than any other - why? - because it is good sounding, with perfect speed pitch control, swapable cartridge mount, reliable. Now Technics have chosen to devide the range into three distinct models:

SL1200MK7 $1399 is the newest and entry level model of the iconic Technics DJ turntable. This is where you are now. This is for sane people. The next models are for the unhinged.

SL-1200GR2 $2799 link here Aimed at audiophiles, offering a stripped-down, more affordable version of the "G" model with a single-rotor motor, a one-piece cast platter, and a more traditional aluminum chassis.

SL-1200G: $5999 link here  A reference-level turntable with a coreless direct-drive motor, a three-layered platter, a high-damping magnesium tonearm, and a robust chassis

Technics SL-1200mk7

At the drive section of the MK7 is a coreless direct drive motor. While achieving both stable rotation and powerful torque, this has successfully eliminated a rotation irregularity called cogging, which was the only drawback of the direct drive system. As a result, sound quality was further improved.

The pitch control incorporates digital control to achieve improved tracking performance and accuracy. A reverse play function has been added to expand the breadth of DJ play style. The LED light can be set to illuminate in red or blue.

With these features and functions, the MK7 aims to set a new standard for DJ turntables — just add a cartridge and enjoy.

Reviews

"so pitch stability needs to be good, and we are already fully aware that Technics has got the SL-1200MK7’s digital pitch circuitry on point."

"The MK7 was pretty much spot on, all the low frequencies coming over tight and unexaggerated, with crisp high frequencies and no obvious distortions."

"stereo imaging and overall frequency placement sounded fantastic"
