Our partnership with the Opéra de Paris gave life to an immersive Devialet Area in the heart of the Garnier Opera House, as well as an exclusive Phantom collection. Hand-adorned with gold leaf by prestigious Les Ateliers Gohard, who also restores the gold of the Palais Garnier, the collection was inspired by a vision of excellence and dedication to French musical heritage and savoir-faire.

Shared vision of excellence.

A landmark French institution meets the new wave of tech innovation in France. It was such a great dream that it was difficult to believe it would ever come true. With ambition and determination, Devialet pursued it for almost three years. The Paris Opera fully accepted to entertain our dream, based on a shared quest for sonic perfection and strong ties to France's musical heritage. 

Gold leaf side plates.

For the Paris Opera, Devialet conceived a special edition of Phantom, an outstanding piece of engineering protected by more than 100 patents. Inspired by the iconic gilded interiors of the space, Phantom Opéra de Paris | Devialet features the Paris Opera logo and gold leaf side plates finished by Ateliers Gohard, who also restores the gold of the Opéra Garnier. The master gilders at Ateliers Gohard finish the Phantom’s gold leaf gills according to time-honoured methods. Each gold leaf is applied by hand for a unique, irreplaceable patina. Heritage techniques demand absolute perfection the first time around; once the leaf has been applied, it cannot be removed. 

An entire orchestra.

The Devialet sound discovery area opened at the Palais Garnier in 2017, ideally located in the west area of the Grand Vestibule. This space has been designed as a minimal setting with sophisticated details, and overseen by the chief architect of France's historic monuments and the regional directorate of cultural affairs. Within this space, the Phantoms Opéra de Paris | Devialet shine as exceptional technological masterpieces. Guests will witness not one Phantom or Phantom pair, but an entire orchestra of 16 Phantoms delivering the purest, most profound emotion that sound can possibly deliver within the walls of a venerable temple to sound itself.

Set up your Phantom, fine tune your settings, and stay up to date, all via the Devialet App. An intuitive companion, the app lets you customize your Phantom experience: setting up your Phantom, adjusting latency for A/V, activating Standby Mode or customizing bass for Night Mode.

AirPlay 2

Apple users can enjoy an additional layer of control over their Phantom with AirPlay 2®. Create a custom multiroom set-up by directly streaming audio from the control device (iPhone, iPad, or Mac) to numerous AirPlay 2-connected speakers, including Phantom.

Spotify Connect

Spotify users can stream their favourite playlists on their favourite speaker with the help of Spotify Connect. All that's needed? The Spotify app you already use, and a Wi-Fi connection. Phantom will pull your music directly from your network, conserving your device's battery and increasing audio fidelity.

UPnP

With Universal Plug and Play, or UPnP, users can switch to a third-party application to play music hosted on their local networks. In other words, with the help of a UPnP controller application, Phantom is able to communicate with an external hard drive.

Roon Ready

In addition to UPnP and the analog/optical input, Phantom owners are able to enjoy 24-bit-sample-rate music using Roon's streaming protocol. Phantom connects to Roon seamlessly, without any configuration steps, allowing users to enjoy perfect hi-res sound with ease.

Devialet thrives on end-to-end innovation — hardware, software, design inside and out, manufacturing — to offer ever-enhanced acoustics. In fact, to create Phantom, we have had to build our own plant, hire talents who were used to unique challenges in other industries, conceive our own robotics and quality control.

Intelligence Processor.

Phantom includes our powerful Devialet Intelligent Processor which helps deliver improved sound quality. Phantom's signal processing and amplification performance (ADH®, SAM®, Magic Wire, Class A, DAC) is embedded in a SoC (system on a chip), which was custom designed for optimal integration. The results? Enhanced heat dissipation for optimal performance at any volume, better energy efficiency, and barely measurable distortion, saturation, or noise.

HBI®  Heart Bass Implosion A one-of-a-kind system. Developed exclusively for Phantom, HBI takes you to the lowest frequencies ever emitted.  Engineered to perform under extreme compactness and pressure, Phantom’s hermetically sealed architecture consists of two lateral woofers powering together. The sheer thrust force behind their combined movement generates ultra-dense sound with physical impact. Right down to infrasound, as low as 14Hz. Welcome to the deep end.	ADH®  Analog Digital Hybrid ADH delivers the sophistication of analog amplification together with the power and compactness of digital amplifiers.  A Devialet patented technology. Typical high-performance analog amplification comes at a cost: unreasonably high levels of energy dissipation. The Devialet aesthetic.

In crafting Phantom’s overall look, we focused on function and an obsessive attention to detail. Some call it French savoir-faire and art de vivre. We view this as honouring craftsmanship and pleasure equally. 

In designing Phantom, we immediately knew we needed to create a spherical object. It's the ideal acoustic shape for 360° diffusion and performance. But there's a reason no other speaker looks like Phantom: it's a challenging shape to work with. Through countless iterations, we were able to reconcile acoustics and aesthetics, giving life to a speaker that that would seduce all senses. 

When seen from the front, Phantom's compactness is unmissable. As you make your way around the sides, the elongated body and side plates are revealed. By stretching out the curvature, we were able to create a light, harmonious feel without sacrificing on loudspeaker power. Designed for longevity, Phantom’s body makes it more robust and performant, ensuring sound is unaltered even at higher temperatures.

PORCELAIN SKIN.

Finesse, elegance, and function were the focuses when choosing Phantom's finish. Phantom's new modern matte exterior is distinctly non-reflective, letting it blend into any environment. It also communicates a certain visual softness. When juxtaposed against the sheer power contained within, Phantom becomes all the more entrancing. But looks can be deceiving: The ultra-tough, easy-to-clean composite remains flawless no matter how hard you push your Phantom.

GEOMETRIC PROTECTION.

Phantom's tweeter grill brings a touch of poetry to function. Its aesthetic inspiration was two-fold: 18th-century French gardens in a nod to Devialet's French origins, and the elaborate waves formed by Chladni patterns which make sound... visible. But it had to be solid enough to protect the delicate tweeter membrane. It took our designers multiple iterations to crack this technical and creative interplay, balancing performance and visual harmony down to the millimeter. No detail spared.

HUG THE CURVES.

A nod to the sculpted lines of classic cars, Phantom’s radiator design is a statement of performance and function. From the exact distance between the dorsal fins to the thickness of the mold, every element was custom shaped with two goals in mind: to remove excess heat, and to look good while doing it. Core strength is everything, especially when your muscles are constantly being put to the test. Cast from solid aluminium, the robust structure can handle acoustic extremes with excellent thermal conductivity.

"We’re not going to fret over questions of value for money here: if you can afford a Phantom 1 108dB, or preferably two of them – and as long as you have a room that’s big enough (and chic enough) to accommodate them – then there’s no reason why you shouldn’t treat yourself. They’re beautiful, they sound superb, and your neighbours bloody deserve it"
