The KEF Q950 floorstanding speakers are considered special because they act as the flagship of KEF’s Q Series, offering a high-value, large-scale sound that frequently punches above its price point. They are designed to deliver "high-resolution" sound with extraordinary depth, utilizing advanced technology to fill large rooms with clear music or cinema audio.

Key Features

• Single Point Source: The tweeter is placed precisely at the acoustic center of the midrange cone. This design acts closer to a single point source, creating a detailed and accurate three-dimensional sound image, rather than having sound emerge from different places.
• Wide Dispersion: The "tangerine" waveguide over the tweeter ensures even dispersion throughout the room, creating a massive "sweet spot" rather than one perfect listening chair.
• Damped Tweeter Loading: A new damped tweeter loading tube provides a gentle termination of sound from the back of the tweeter, dramatically improving lower treble performance. 

• 3x 8-inch Drivers: It utilizes one 8-inch aluminum LF driver, two 8-inch Auxiliary Bass Radiators (ABRs), and the 8-inch Uni-Q driver.
• Passive Radiators (ABRs): Instead of a rear port that can cause "boominess" against walls, the Q950 uses two ABRs. These produce tighter, more controlled, and cleaner bass at high volumes without the noise or limitations of traditional ports. 

• Sealed Midrange Chamber: The Uni-Q driver is housed in a sealed box within the cabinet, which reduces pressure on the driver, leading to higher clarity and cleaner bass.
• Improved Crossovers: New low-distortion inductors on the crossover provide cleaner bass and smoother treble.
• Sleek Aesthetic: The speakers feature a modern, minimalist design with a matte vinyl finish and optional magnetic grilles, which allows them to fit into modern living spaces. 

• Efficiency: With a sensitivity of 91dB, these speakers are relatively easy to drive, although they appreciate a quality amplifier to truly shine.
