The finest transparency unique to Class A operation and the richly scaled, three-dimensional soundstage that is a hallmark of Esoteric come together to create an unparalleled listening experience. Featuring a newly designed, fully symmetrical balanced input buffer amplifier, a large 1,000 VA toroidal-core power transformer, and a unique dual-mono power-supply smoothing circuit, the refined S-05XE establishes a new benchmark in Class A stereo power amplification. Experience the polished, expanded Esoteric signature sound in its full expression.
Build
Design & Architecture: Dual-mono power supply architecture with a massive 1,000 VA toroidal-core transformer and Grandioso-grade custom capacitors (10,000μF × 4 per channel).
Amplification Circuit: High-power bipolar transistors in a three-parallel push-pull configuration with minimal negative feedback (NFB).
Inputs & Connectivity: RCA, XLR, and proprietary ES-Link Analog high-current transmission.
Operating Modes: Stereo, BTL (Bridged Transless/Mono), and Bi-Amp options.
Chassis & Build: Non-resonant solid aluminum construction with a semi-floating top panel and wave-shaped heat sinks
Listening
Pure Class-A Musicality: Offers an unforced, organic, and richly textured presentation where micro-details and low-level information emerge effortlessly.
Three-Dimensional Soundstage: Known for a vast, deep, and precisely layered soundstage that makes music feel scaled and physically present in the room.
Authoritative Control: Despite a conservative rating of 30 watts per channel into 8 ohms (and 60W into 4 ohms), its 1,000 VA toroidal transformer and dual-mono architecture give it the grip and dynamic headroom to sound much larger than its wattage implies.
Low Noise and Purity: A symmetrical balanced input buffer keeps the noise floor remarkably quiet (104 dB signal-to-noise ratio), helping reveal subtle acoustic cues and harmonic decay.
Reviews
"I was extremely impressed with the sound quality that the Esoteric S-05XE contributed to my system. The S-05XE's transparency was one of its greatest virtues. But it also had an extremely musical sound that made the music come alive in my room." read the review in Enjoy the Music
