GoldenEar's Subwoofer has reserve power, so that it won't be close to breakup distortion at normal listening levels. A low mass driver compliment means good attack and fast delivery so that percussive instruments get proper impact - what music needs. Then, when the soundtrack moves to really deep pressure frequencies that make movies so much fun, the GoldenEar keeps plumbing down to the lowest levels.
The sub's long-throw 8" woofer has a computer-optimized, ultra-stiff fibre cone and a massive high-gauss magnet assembly. It's driven by a tremendously powerful 500-watt RMS amplifier, which uses DSP (digital signal processing) to minimize distortion in real time. And a down-firing 9" x 11" quadratic planar radiator extends low frequencies all the way down below the range of human hearing.
