• Stability & Mass: A wide, heavy base prevents wobbling and tipping, crucial for safety and sound clarity, especially with pets or kids.
• Isolation: Decouples the speaker from the floor or desk to stop vibrations from coloring the sound, using spikes for hard floors or pads for wood.
• Top Plate: Large enough to securely hold the speaker's base but not so large it compromises stability.
• Material: Dense materials (metal, hardwood, concrete) absorb vibrations better than resonant materials like glass; filled stands (sand/lead shot) add mass.
