An integrated amp with Phono and digital inputs 

The Marantz PM8005 features optical and coaxial digital inputs that feed this amp's high-quality digital-to-analog converter (DAC). That means you can connect a network music player or streaming media device, as well as your turntable and TV's Optical output. The PM8005's DAC is as adept at decoding high-resolution audio files from your digital music player as it is at improving the sound quality of your CD player. 

There's more to Marantz's power

The conservative 70-watt stereo power rating is typical Marantz understating the actual output. Those 70 watts per channel are generated by a high-current power supply that features a toroidal power transformer with high-current storage capacitors. That allows this amp to handle the demands of 4-ohm speakers as well as dynamic peaks in music. 

Tone controls, direct mode, and room for extra speakers

The PM8005 has two pairs of speaker connectors, front-panel treble and bass controls, and Source Direct mode for bypassing these tone controls if you desire even purer sound. There's also a discrete headphone amplifier for the full-size headphone jack.
