Pro-ject T1 Turntable

The goal is to make the very best turntable at $500. Time for T1. We have taken our popular entry-level turntable design and improved every aspect of it.
The result is a very refined product. Made in Europe

Improving our budget turntable wasn't easy. Pro-ject has been the top-selling turntable in Europe and America

A new glass platter

Glass is super rigid, and the moving energy will also create a flywheel effect. The result is an even quieter and noiseless operation and less wow and flutter - more stable speeds

CNC machined base

The rest has lightweight cheap plastic or particleboard chassis with plastic veneers, a lot of air enclosure - and that isn't good - it leads to vibration. You want a solid base for the turntable.

Ultra-precise Main bearing

We have an ultra-precise Main bearing (tolerance .001") mounted on the rigid base. It has a hardened steel base and brass bushing

Purpose-chosen turntable feet

Important for isolating the Pro-ject T1 turntable from ambient vibrations around your hi-fi system.

A one-piece 8.6" tonearm with low friction bearings

The rest has a glued together tonearm with many small plastic pieces

Again, Pro-ject Audio T1 has set the bar for an affordable high-performance turntable that also looks and feels incredibly luxurious higher than ever before. We are excited to win more customers for our hobby and passion: analog music listening.

Ortofon OM5 Cartridge fitted

Finally, we fitted an expensive German Ortofon ($85) cartridge as standard. Ortofon has designed and manufactured magnetic cartridges for about 30 years. Ortofon has established a firm position for itself among music lovers and audiophiles all over the world.

Reviews

"Options at this price point - the Planar One Plus from Rega - until the T1 came along anyway"
"What is abundantly clear after testing it though is that the T1 is a genuinely likable turntable. Pro-Ject has brought some new parts into their affordable turntable system and the combination of them here has resulted in a turntable that’s a breeze to set up, well made, and easy to use. No less importantly, it looks clean and elegant in a way that has sometimes eluded Pro-Ject’s most affordable models. Crucially, it then does enough sonically to complete the package. This is an invigorating listen that can get more out of your records than you might reasonably expect at this price point. This is a seriously good record player for under $500 and it has to be seen as a clear and obvious Best Buy as a result of it."
